Turkish style bulgur

What you’ll be needing:

  • Bulgur – 1 cup.
  • Tomato – 2 pieces.
  • Onion (small) – 1 piece.
  • Garlic – 2-3 pieces.
  • Boiled hot water  – 1.5 cups.
  • Tomato paste – 1 tbsp.
  • Olive oil – 1 tbsp.
  • Salt – as per taste.
  • Black pepper – as per taste.

  

What is the nutritional value (per serving):

  • Calories­ – 342 kcal.
  • Proteins – 12.29 grams.
  • Fats – 1.33 grams.
  • Carbohydrates – 57.57 grams.

 

How we will be cooking this:

  • First of all, chop finely garlic and onion. Take a big bowl and soak bulgur with hot water for 30 minutes.
  • Peal out tomatoes by putting them in a boiling water for 1 minute and then shift in a cold water, also for 1 minute. When pealing is done, gather the tomatoes.
  • In a deep frying pan heat olive oil in a medium heat. Add our onion and fry until soft , after that add chopped garlic.
  • After a couple of minutes add the tomatoes, tomato paste and a little bit of water. Stir and then cover with a lid. Let it Simmer for 10-13 minutes.
  • Add our soaked bulgur and mix everything once again.
  • Fill everything with water, add salt and pepper. Cover with a lid once again and cook for about 15 minutes. 
  • When cooking is finished let it cool down for about 30 minutes.
  • Serve bulgur with Tabule salad or vegetables. Enjoy your meal! Stay healthy and happy! 🙂
